Start a HconGroups in your city

  • First understand what HconGroups is and what it is not
           It is NOT a lame group meet for just fetching money from your pockets, read about page and read and follow Terms
 
  • What you need :
          - People who are interested in such security related activities
          - A place to meet
          - Any computing device like laptop, desktop or tablet basically to present your slides
          - At least do 1 meet a month, but you can do more than 1 in a month it's up to you
 
  • Inform us HERE with as much as detail you can provide about yourself, the city you are in and which kind of crowd is around you there, so that we can also help you in getting started
 
  • So far the idea is to run a local hacker meet WITH what you have, no need of big hotels, not even any high-tech gadget you just need above mentioned requirements fulfilled and you are good to start

  • Why Hcon is running this groups ? Even if there are other security gatherings ?
            Because we believe that there are other security meets but they are not friendly and they don't run this for
                 knowledge but they do this to fool people and fetch money. There are  other security meets who will not take or
                  ask for money but they will ask you to present something new (research paper) every time. We understand that
                  everyone is NOT Einstein, We need ways and people to guide us while we are learning so why not help each other ?
                  So we created HconGroups.
 
  • What I will get for doing all this ?
            From Hcon or any other HG member you will get NO MONEY but,
            you get recognition in local area for what you are doing
            you get a real local security community
            this will improve your many abilities while you be the moderator of your local HconGroups.
 
  • How Hcon will help me to start a local HconGroups ?
            We will guide you with our experiences while starting different HG
            We will assist you to find more local people
            We will add you in the site with details
            We will get you started and spread the word for your local HG

            We have this site which is a central point from which all things are done. Check above for more options
 
  • Can there be more than one Local HconGroups in the same area ?
            Yes why not, but keep in mind that we don't entertain any kind of rivalry, be friendly with everyone, and if you have
                  any issues discuss with us first, see if we can help. But it will be better that one city has one Local HconGroup so that
                  the local community will not get divided
 
  • Where we can arrange a HconGroups meet ?
            Any place where the members are comfortable with, it can be any public place like library, parks, inside
                  college/university campus basically the point is to have a place to meet and have fun, there is no need of any 3star or
            5star hotels because that will be waste of money and everyone can not afford it.
 
  • Should i have to pay any money to Hcon.in for starting a HconGroups ?
            NOT AT ALL, we are using our own resources to help you to start a HconGroups,
            What we need from you is to carry the mission 'sharing the spirit of learning'
 
  • I am a moderator of HconGroups can I attend any other local security meets ? Or join one ?
            Yes, and invite other people from other security meet to your HconGroups meet
 
  • Some people in group are causing problems what to do ?
            Talk to them first, there is nothing that can't be solved by a healthy conversation. As a moderator of the Group you                 are  the responsible person to control situations like this, whether you want or not but this will also go to help you             to enhance your leadership skills as this kind of situations are common everywhere. But you have to make sure that                 this kind of situations don't arise in your Group.
 
  • What are the responsibilities that comes as moderator of HconGroups ?
            You are contact person for us, other than above mentioned
            You need to collaborate with your other group members for next meet schedule and venue and inform us.
            You have to inform us what's going on, like any new research or any tool development from your group,
            You have to encourage others to take more involvement in Group activities, talks, projects and other.
